I think the irc client I would prefer is xchat or xchat2. That's what I use, and it's less confusing to use in my opinion.

I'll look into making a channel and see how it works out. If it works, I'll let you guys know.

I'm working on a test channel to see how it works. And you do that to register, yes. Then yadda yadda yadda.

I use Teamspeak 3, Skype, and IRC. I I'll have to check that out. Thanks. Though that does sound a lot like Team Speak, so I don't know. I might just stick to Teamspeak.

on the look of it, none really used irc that much before, basically if you wanna setup your own irc network use unrealircd or InspIRCd personal i use unrealircd but other people recommand InspIRCd so i would recommand using that, for services (nickserv, chanserv etc.) use atheme or anope i recommand atheme, for webchat, so people don't "NEED" to download irc client, use IRIS, if you use atheme you can link webchat + atheme a bit so thats something good with atheme too Razz

However if you wanna irc networks that already someone hosts and just use channels, i recomand espernet and freenode, there is tons of irc networks if you google, however i prefer espernet but freenode is big and if you need help there is tons of channels there you can ask in, its not much difrence between most of the bigger irc networks, usally a matter of how popular they are!
I would recommand starting your own irc network if you got space for it, it doesn't take up much of ram just a few mb usally less then 500mb or so (including webchat, services and the irc) and you get more options with hosting your self, example set your own irc rules, usage of operserv etc.

For Irc client, i recommand mirc if you never used anything before, xchat if you wanna pay for it, xchat2 if you want xchat but don't wanna pay then there is a few other ones but those one's are the one i recommand!

I recommand getting a irc bouncer up quickly too, either sbnc or znc, i use sbnc!
A bouncer is like a middle hand, between your client and the server, you get the possiblity for more commands, easier auto scripts, able to add bots directly to the bouncer so it can stay on 24/7, able to be active 24/7 the bouncer will keep your account active 24/7 so that when you get back, you can get the log easy, and something called vhost, due to irc show your ip when you connect, vhost can protect it by showing the servers ip instead, or if you get stuff like ipv6 you can easly set up so it shows a hostname for every bouncer user!

I am almost done setting up everything for my own server on irc, so if you got any questions you can ask me Razz It was my first time to set it up so i still haven't really played around with everything yet, but i can help you get started atleast Razz

Edit: sorry for any grammar/spelling issues there, I am tired and from sweden so my english isn't the best Very Happy

EDIT2: Oh forgot to mention, I saw you guys found craftirc, i strongly recommand that bridge plugin, i been using it for months now and just love it, you can add console commands, so that if you are op on the irc you can use commands that sends it through the console, example .c time day .c manuadd tryy3 R1 etc. if you play around with it you will find tons of fun stuff, example i been fixing and trixing so that it shows my groups, we use essentials chat so before it didn't show so i had to make groupmanager show prefix because craftirc can read from groupmanager but not essentials chat, then make essentialschat not show groupmanager prefix ingame because i already used essentialschat, then i made craftirc, replace groupmanager prefix like <D> to [DONATOR] Razz over complicated, i could of done it so much easier, but meh i like over complicated stuff!

Oh and if you use commands from craftirc, i strongly recomand fixing some commands up, example the essentials command /gc so you can have arguments like /gc tps so it only shows the tps, otherwise the bot will spam a lot!

I asked Madi to set it up but she has a lot of things on her hands, battling a disease etc.
Would you like to set the site up with an IRC?

from what i understood madi, she was just saying she knows people (me and cajs12345) that use irc daily, she however isn't too familiar with irc yet, but ye i can set it up, do you want a irc channel on example espernet or you want to setup a completly new server, because that require a server!
